Christine Augustyn
Educator from the U.S.
Christine was awarded a teaching fellowship to travel with OCI to Koru, Kenya, in June of 2014. While in Koru, Christine worked with teachers from Nursery through Standards 3 to develop interactive teaching practices, as well as to build their abilities to use supplemental texts across curriculums to enhance reading and early literacy. Together with the teachers of Koru, Christine explored ways to enhance existing curriculum with poems, songs, and resources found at the Robert Ouko Public Library.
Currently in her eighth year of teaching pre-school at Spruce Street Nursery School in Boston, MA, Christine is taking coursework at Lesley University, in Cambridge, MA, in early literacy. Christine received a Master’s of Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2010, following the completion of her undergraduate studies in journalism at Northeastern University, in 2006.
